Milk it

History claims that Cleopatra bathed in sour milk to soften her skin, which makes sense when you consider that lactic acid – an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) – occurs naturally in milk. This hard-working AHA helps to dissolve dry, redundant cells from the surface of the skin, leaving it silky smooth. There’s no need to splash pints into your bath, as just one cup of whole milk is enough to make a difference. Add a dash of bath oil too for a smidge of scent.

Try a new toner

You’ve probably heard of apple cider vinegar being used as a detox drink or for adding shine to the hair, but what about on your skin?
