She was once a little-known reality star who saw herself voted out second in the 2002 series of Big Brother. But just two decades later, Alison Hammond’s career is snowballing beyond recognition and it seems she could be ready to take Holly Willoughby’s crown as the golden girl of TV. Her work schedule is bursting with opportunities. She’s recently signed up to take over from Matt Lucas as a presenter on C4’s The Great British Bake Off and we’ve seen her rub shoulders with royalty and Hollywood superstars alike. And with audiences seemingly unable to get enough is it simply a matter of time before she becomes ITV’s golden girl?

SIGHTS ON HOLLYWOOD?

The Brummie-born presenter is a natural on screen, whether she’s chatting to members of the public or interviewing A-listers – a skill that’s seen her rise from bit-part presenter on This Morning to a Friday host of the show. And these days, her portfolio is ever-expanding.

Not only did she do a stellar job co-hosting the BAFTAs with Richard E. Grant recently, but she’s reportedly also been signed up by the BBC to present the new show Clear The Dancefloor.

Now it seems that Alison has her sights set on Hollywood too. When asked about her work, the 48-year-old admitted, ‘A lot of people think I don’t really plan but I do.’ And discussing if she’d like to crack America next, Alison said, ‘Absolutely. I’d love to, actually.’

Her performance at the BAFTAs proved Alison is more than capable of following in the footsteps of James Corden and Cat Deeley to make her name in la-la land, while the star revealed she loved being amongst the celebrities and royals. Mum-of-one Alison admitted, ‘Honestly it does feel like a dream… I can remember looking down and seeing William and Kate smiling and beaming up at me… Then [after the show] when they’re saying your name and it’s like, “You know who I am!”’

Not only a smash hit with the talent and future King and Queen, viewers also couldn’t get enough of the vivacious star – fans’ only complaint being that she just wasn’t on stage enough.

In fact, last year Alison’s name began to pop up in the US when a one-minute montage of her funniest moments and most famous celebrity interviews featured on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. The fun clips were a hit with fans across the pond, with one commenting, ‘The Alison Hammond segment on #LastWeekTonight was the joy we all needed this wee
