Christine McGuinness broke down in tears as she admitted to feeling petrified and ‘really unhappy’ in her new documentary, Unmasking My Autism. The 35-year-old heartbreakingly opened up about experiencing sexual abuse, her recent autism diagnosis and split from husband Paddy, 49, as she discussed starting a new chapter.

Christine, who announced she was separating from the father of her children – twins Penelope and Leo, nine, and Felicity, six – in July 2022, shared, ‘Starting life on my own is scary… I was only 19 when I met Patrick and for the last 15 years my role has been wife and mum. When I was diagnosed, I set out on a journey to find out who I was.’ She continued, ‘I have separated from my husband in the process… I’ve only had this one man in my life, I don’t know what it is like to date, I can’t imagine being single or with another man.’ She added that starting over is ‘petrifying for someone who doesn’t like change’.

The star, who married Paddy in 2011, also opened up about her past relationships. She said, ‘They were pretty bad experiences. Before Patrick, I had been sexually abused, I was raped. I used to pray every night that I wouldn’t wake up in the morning.’

Of her marriage Christine said, ‘When I met my husband that was a time when I was very safe… I know that I’ve stayed in a place where I was probably unhappy because it was safe.’ Paddy has since praised Christine for her honesty, telling his Instagram fans he is ‘very proud’ of his ex.

HARRY AND MEGHAN SNUBBED?

The Sussexes have been living in the US since 2020

Is Harry and Meghan’s popularity tanking in the US? A PR expert has suggested that, despite living stateside, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may not be invited to the Met Gala.

The glam event raises money for New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute and has been dubbed as ‘Hollywood’s most prestigious red-carpet event’. Jordan James, CEO of Unlockd PR, said, ‘It wouldn’t come as a major surprise if they were snubbed given their current status within the Royal Family and the ensuing drama.’

The Met Gala takes place just days before King Charles III’s coronation, which the couple have been invited to but are yet to reveal if they are to attend. Watch this space.
