Letter of the week
This was my mum’s cookery book, it’s the only one I can ever remember her using! It was published in 1976 so is in pretty good condition for a little paperback that’s nearly 50 years old. It has my go-to recipes for Christmas pudding and toad-in-the-hole. Some things we inherit are so precious, even though they have no monetary value. Mum read your magazine every week and I’ve carried on having a subscription. It feels like keeping a little connection with her.
PUSHING THE ENVELOPE
I have a good idea for when you’re writing cards. I hate licking the envelopes, so I get an egg cup and put a drop of cold water in it. Then I dip the tip of a cotton bud into the water and run it along the sticky edge of the envelope. That way, there’s no nasty taste left in my mouth when sealing it down.
