The Nike Metcon 8 offers top-tier support for hybrid training

When I emerged from the pandemic a stone and a half heavier, I felt ready to find a new, healthy routine. Craving a challenge, I joined my local F45 studio and dove into the world of HIIT and functional fitness. I initially wore my ratty old running trainers, which lacked the stability needed.

I noticed that the class instructors wore some iteration of Nike Metcon shoes, which piqued my curiosity. So I tried out the latest version, the Metcon 8, and noticed an immediate jump in my performance.

‘Metcon’ stands for metabolic conditioning, so these shoes are tailormade for hybrid workouts that combine cardio and resistance. They have a wide, flat heel so you feel firmly grounded. There’s also a supportive inner plate along the sole. This provides added safety, especially when you’re lifting heavy weights. And while the Metcons aren’t as bouncy as a running shoe, Nike’s signature React foam in the base gives enough springiness for sprints and cardio.
