MY BEST RACE

Running this race had been a long-held dream, but making the start line was a challenge itself. You have to be invited, and deemed able to take on the gruelling distance and environment, and it took over a decade for me to gather the knowledge, experience and courage to send in the application.

The Badwater 135 is one of the toughest races in the world in one of the most inhospitable places, yet it’s so incredibly beautiful. From the arid desert to the lush mountain tops, it’s visually stunning. I felt that every step I had run in previous races had led me to the start line, and deep down I knew I would make it to the finish as it meant so much to me.

You rarely see people on the course as you quickly get very spread out. That being said, I can clearly remember, during the difficult night sections, seeing the lights of fellow runners both in front of me and behind. It really helped me not feel so alone!

The Wings for Life World Run

The Wings For Life World Run will take place at 11am GMT on 5 May 2024. The Wings For Life charity is dedicated to finding a cure for spinal cord injuries and 100% of all entry fees from its World Run event are donated to its injury cure research projects.
