Wellbeing Centres offer a range of therapies

When you think of a hospice you probably think of a place where comfort, medical and nursing care are given. You might not imagine people at the end of life could take part in activities such as cookery, art classes, complementary therapies, gardening and gym sessions. Well, end of life charity Marie Curie are working to change that with their Wellbeing Centres. They believe everyone deserves to live as well as possible, to the end. Located in a number of hospices across the country, Wellbeing Centres offer a range of services and therapies to help people with a serious illness, and their loved ones, live their best lives – emotionally, physically, practically and spiritually.

Who can use the Wellbeing Centres?

People can be referred to a centre by a healthcare professional, like a GP or district nurse, before a one-to-one appointment to understand what help people want and need. There are also drop-in sessions where people can pop in as and when they feel comfortable.

What services are on offer?

Wellbeing Centres offer a range of services and therapies which can be used alongside conventional medicine. These services can help reduce side effects, improve wellbeing, confidence, energy levels and quality of life. Some people find they can help them to stay positive, feel more relaxed and in control.
