Following her debut album, the singer shares her thoughts on crystals, touring and TikTok fame

Mimi Webb is everywhere. Hours before our phone interview, the 22-year-old’s song comes on when I’m in the supermarket, and it’s hard to scroll through TikTok without one of her candid videos, often filmed with family, cropping up. After going viral back in 2020, thanks to a series of a cappella covers, the Canterbury-born singer released her EP, Seven Shades Of Heartbreak, featuring breakout song Good Without. Now she’s back with her debut studio album, Amelia, which Mimi hopes will give fans an insight into the duality of her character: the ‘sassy, excitable pop star’ on stage, alongside the ‘grounded girl-next-door’ at home.

What’s the inspiration behind your debut album, Amelia?

It’s about everything from heartbreak to day-to-day life and trying to figure out who I am as a person. It marries the girl from the countryside with the Mimi Webb who’s thriving for the big shows.

Do you have any advice for handling heartbreak?

Whatever you do, try and grow to become a better version of yourself. Don’t freak out or overthink things. Work on yourself, do what you want to do.

I’m really into [reading people’s] energy. I’m connected with that kind of stuff. I love crystals. We’re all made up of atoms of energy, and you use that to connect and respond to people. It can help you to understand situations.
