Grief is a natural response to losing someone you care about, and an emotion we all have to face. There’s no quick fix but there are ways to move through it.

‘Grief and love are intertwined. When we experience grief, it is often because we have lost someone, or something, we deeply love,’ explains psychic TJ Higgs.

She says it’s important to remember that ‘grief is love’.

She adds: ‘Love is a powerful and complex emotion that connects us to others and brings meaning and joy to our lives.’

How do we grieve?

There is no right or wrong way to grieve — it is very individual. Many symptoms of grief overlap with those of depression, sadness, insomnia and reluctance for pleasure.

No one can feel and experience your grief except you — and it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.

Keepsakes can be helpful

I can read for a client and the pain feels like their loved one died just yesterday, when in fact it was 10 years ago. I’ve also found the person in Spirit feels so settled you would believe they had been there for years, rather than months or even weeks.

I feel the best way to deal with grief is to ‘live’ it.

Those days when you want to hide and have your time and thoughts with your loved one, have it! Be open, you are allowed to feel it.
