Steering column UJ
SNG Barratt has recently introduced a steering column universal joint suitable for the E-Type (all series) and Jaguar Mk2. One end of this new universal joint has a counterbored threaded hole to take a ¼” UNF x 7/8” socket head screw, so it can be clamped in place with none of the bolt head or shank protruding from the main body. This eliminates the long-standing problem of fouling on the engine frame. The universal joint is rotary broached with the mating tool used to broach the steering column, resulting in a perfect slip fit.

Dashboard LEDs for the XJS
Better Car Lighting already offers a number of LED upgrades for the XJS, which were launched last year, but they are now offering a comprehensive package of dashboard lighting, which includes all of the instrument bulbs and all of the warning light bulbs.
Dashboard illumination is available in green, ivory white or ice blue. And the biggest news is that BCL has developed the only LED dashboard bulbs in the world that dim normally with the standard rheostat, and these are now included in each of their kits.
Also, all bulbs, being the push-in wedge type, can go into their sockets either way around. “As LEDs are by definition diodes, they normally only work one way around, and this can be extremely vexing if you have fitted a large number of them, then reconnected and refitted your dash only to then find that some are the wrong way around,” comments Gil Keane at BCL. “T
