Needles: 3.25mm

Easter Basket Orange Cover

BASKET

Using 3.25mm needles and yarn A, cast on 25 sts

☐ Row 1: inc into every stitch. 50 sts

☐ Row 2: (p1, k1) to end

☐ Row 3: (k1, p1) to end

☐ Rows 4-15: Rep Rows 2-3 six more times

☐ Row 16: rep Row 1

☐ Rows 17-20: k

☐ Rows 21-26: beg with a k (RS) row, work in st st

☐ Row 27: (k2tog) to end. 25 sts

☐ Row 28: (p2tog) to end. 13 sts

☐ Row 29: k1 (k2tog) to end. Seven sts

☐ Cut yarn leaving a tail, thread through rem sts, pull tight and fasten off

HANDLE

Using 3.25mm needles and yarn A, cast on 50 sts

☐ Rows 1-4: k

☐ Cast off

EGGS (make three) Using 3.25mm needles and yarn B (D, E) cast on four sts

☐ Row 1: k

☐ Row 2: (pfb) to end. Eight sts

☐ Rows 3-6: beg with a k (RS) row, work in st st

☐ Row 7: k Change to yarn C (B, A)

☐ Row 8: k Change to yarn B (D, E)

☐ Rows 9-12: beg with a p (WS) row, work in st st

☐ Row 13: (p3, p3tog) to last st, p1. 13 sts

☐ Row 14: k

☐ Row 15: (p1, p2tog) to last st, p1. Nine sts

☐ Row 16: k

☐ Row 17: (p1, p2tog) to end. Five sts

☐ Row 18: k

☐ Cut yarn leaving a tail, thread through rem sts, pull tight and fasten off

BOWS (make three) Using 3.25mm needles and yarn B (C, F) cast on ten sts

☐ Rows 1-2: beg with a k (RS) row, work in st st Cast off

TO MAKE UP

Sew Basket row ends together. Stitch cast on and cast off edges of Handle together around a pipe cleaner and secure to each side of Basket at top of garter stitch section. Sew eggs together at row ends, stuff and sew seams. Stitch Bow row ends together, bind middle of Bow by wrapping yarn around it tightly, secure to centre of Egg, secure eggs in Basket.

BASE

NOTE: If making as a toy, not to cover a Chocolate Orange
