Lorraine show fun

“I like working on the Lorraine show in the summer. There’s always a bit of naughtiness in the air. It feels like a holiday camp before the grown-ups come back in September. I have to get up at 3am to do the show but I love the sunny morning drives. I’m usually back home by 11.30am, and then it’s straight into family life. It feels like a nice balance.”

“Like a true Brit, my summer is made when we get the chance to have a barbecue in the garden. Singer Cheryl Baker (70)

Big birthday celebrations

“I love summer parties in the garden and cooking a huge paella outside. I cooked a big one last summer for my twin daughters’ 29th birthday.

Repair Shop Presenter Jay Blades (54)

Broadcaster Alan Titchmarsh (74)

An end-of-day dream

“After a long hard day, you arrive home, kick your shoes off and change into something more comfortable. Then splash a cold drink into a glass, and into the garden to soak up the sights, scents and sounds of the summer from a comfy seat. Wonderful!”

Novelist Jilly Cooper (87)

Naked ambition

“For years in summer I liked to type naked on the terrace of my home in the Cotswolds. I remember there was a very sweet man who’d had a stroke that stopped him speaking. He came to borrow some of my husband’s books. When there was no answer, he wandered on to the terrace and discovered me starkers. ‘Good
