Jennifer Mo, 50, is co-founder and managing director of Pura Collagen (puracollagen.co.uk).
I launched Pura Collagen in 2021 after 25 years working in the sports nutrition industry. With experience in performance nutrition, anatomy and genetics, I advised professionals from leading athletes to Navy SEALS and government ministers across USA, Southeast Asia, and Europe. Always a lover of sport, I successfully represented my US state as a teenager in downhill skiing, softball and field hockey. I started taking collagen in my early 20s to heal injured joints. I was amazed by the internal and external results. I understood the power of collagen and what was available, so saw an opportunity to create something better. There is still a lot of sexism in business. I recently had a horrendous experience where a wealthy male investor at a previous company asked me how I was going to “cope” doing my job as a divorced parent. I pointed out that he too was a divorced parent and asked him how he managed to do his job. He thought that was very funny. He clearly saw our roles as parents and businesspeople very differently.
