It’s Christmas! Well, almost... this issue lands in the shops November 24, around the time alot of people put up their decorations (I was super early this year, suggesting to my son we do it the first weekend of November!). You’ll no doubt notice we have a festive vibe throughout the magazine, as being the 13th issue of the year, wethought why not focus on Christmas?

As you flick through you’ll find healthy party drinks and food from weight-loss columnist Alice Dogruyol (page 36), smart ways to eat to avoid carb overload from nutritionist Pauline Cox (page 89), and tasty walnutpacked recipes (page 92). In beauty, we have a round up of glittering buys full of gold, frankincense, myrrh, and the most festive of spices, cinnamon, while our retreat pages showcase festive getaways in the UK and abroad. Speaking of which, I’ve finally written up my review of Anantara Veli in the Maldives, which Iwas lucky enough to visit back in March –just looking at the pictures makes me long to return, especially when the cold, dry air this time of year makes my eczema super dry and itchy. Being in the sun and sea always makes it go, but I digress...

Our special section focuses on self-care (from page 47). Usually, we hone in on physical issues such as diabetes or heart health, but it’s important to highlight mental wellbeing, especially as winter can be dark and dismal if you’re not taking care of yourself. The fitness section is also more chilled out than usual, encouraging you to slow down and take abreath (page 70).
