STORECUPBOARD ESSENTIALS

These often make great ingredients in homemade masks, but always patch test before you apply to your skin.

● Coffee granules, sea salt and brown sugar are good skin exfoliators.

● Fresh fruit is packed with antioxidants.

● Milk, yogurt and egg whites suits normal skin types.

● Oils such as coconut, avocado and olive work best on dry skin.

● Adash of lemon or apple cider vinegar is good for oily skin.

● Green or chamomile tea bags make great eye masks.

PERFEC T PREP:

Before you start – relax and unwind with a cup of herbal tea. Pop your robe and towels in the dryer or on the radiator for 10 minutes so they’re warm and fluffy. The heat will also boost circulation, which will help to move toxins.

Massage in the mask – most facials involve some kind of face massage as they can instantly breathe new life into skin.

Apply a hydrating serum or a few drops of facial oil to massage around the eye area in a circular motion – 10 circles clockwise, then 10 anti-clockwise.

FACE LIF TING MASK

Mix two spoonfuls of plain yogurt with the juice of a lemon and apply to your cleansed face and neck. Let it dry for 20 minutes. You’ll feel the mask tighten on your face and neck, creating a lifting and firming effect. Leave it on longer (up to one hour) for even more face-lifting effects. Rinse with tepid water followed by a cool rinse.
