However many tasks are on your to-do list in the run-up to Christmas, try to set aside time for an energy-boosting, stress-busting walk. Visit nationaltrust.org.uk for UK-wide winter walk inspiration – and don’t forget to take along two essentials: a flask of something warming, preferably boozy, and a wrapped slice of cake. Search ‘boozy mint hot chocolate’ and ‘ginger and pear traybake’ at deliciousmagazine.co.uk

GOOD DESIGN

Many of you agreed with managing editor Les Dunn about the blight of dull, identikit dining décor [June issue, p130]. The remedy? Feast your eyes on this year’s winners in the worldwide Restaurant and Bar Design Awards... Five London spots took home prizes, including Chinese restaurant MiMi Mei Fair (right), designed by Fabled Studio, and The Painter’s Room at Claridge’s. New king of the cheeseboard

Our food team are fans of Swiss gruyère for its rich, savoury notes and melting qualities. Now a Le Gruyère AOP surchoix (matured for at least 10 months) has won top accolade at the World Cheese Awards, held in Cardiff on 2 November. Made by cheesemaker Vorderfultigen and affineur Gourmino (the affineur oversees the maturing process), the winner beat 4,433 other entries. Best British Cheese was awarded to Spenwood by Village Maid Cheese. See the full list of winners at worldcheeseawards.com

HEART FELT

Textile artist Lucy Sparrow made headlines in 2014 when she opened a cornershop in East London stocked with chocolate bars, pints of milk and more – all made entirely of felt.

Her new pop-up superstore, Felt ’R’ Us, is at Bloomsbury’s Brunswick Shopping Centre until Christmas Eve, with works including a felt operating theatre and food-themed Christmas decorations to buy. Enough to make you hungry? Lucy’s also staged a festive décor takeover at burger restaurant MEATliquor next door to the exhibition.* See sewyours
