Great British Food Magazine
6 June 2014

I don't know of any other nation that relishes the sunshine quite as much as the British. As soon as the temperature reaches 20˚C we're out in force, flocking like birds to parks, pub gardens, beaches, basically anywhere we can lay a blanket! But I've had too many plans thwarted by a summer washout to pin my hopes on a heatwave – my pleasure this month will come purely from the huge amount of seasonal produce available. And if the weather is amazing too, well that's even better. Lisa Faulkner's easy entertaining guide (p.36) is packed with some of our favourite crowd-pleasers, from proper pork pies to a big icy jug of Bloody Mary, while Rachel Allen's light and bright summer bakes (p.36) make the most of our fantastic British fruits. This issue we're also celebrating the ultimate seaside treat – fish and chips! Angela Kennedy has tracked down the best chippies in the business to uncover the key to perfectly crisp batter (p.62). And don't forget to vote for your favourite British brand in our Farm Produce Awards. Fill in the form on p.107 or vote online at greatbritishfoodmagazine.com/awards for the chance to win £500 worth of KitchenAid goodies! Natasha, Editor - natasha@aceville.co.uk
