WEARING A BEAUTIFUL ELIE SAAB WEDDING GOWN, ROYAL BRIDE PRINCESS ALEXANDRA OF LUXEMBOURG SAYS ‘I DO’ AGAIN TO NICOLAS BAGORY IN A FAIRYTALE CEREMONY IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE

Emerging from the church with Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa on their right, Alexandra and Nicolas are greeted by cheering well-wishers

S urrounded by sunshine and scented flowers in one of the most picturesque medieval villages on the Côte d’Azur, Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg said “I do” again to her handsome husband, French businessman Nicolas Bagory, in a religious ceremony witnessed by family and friends.

The happy couple – who had sealed their love in a civil ceremony at the city hall in Luxembourg City only the week before – exchanged vows for the second time in the 18th-century church of Saint-Trophyme in Bormes-les-Mimosas, where the bride’s family have a summer home.

This charming South of France village is also where the Princess of Wales’s brother, James Middleton, married his French wife, Alizée Thevenet, in 2021 – and Alexandra, like Kate, tied the knot on 29 April, with Kate recently celebrating her 12th wedding anniversary.

Princess Alexandra, the only daughter of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, looked every inch a fairytale bride on her big day. Dressed in a breathtaking custom Bardot-style satin Elie Saab gown with an intricate bodice and soft A-line silhouette, she added an ethereal touch with a tulle veil embellished with embroidery and beading.

ELEGANT BRIDE

Carrying a green-and-white lily of the valley bouquet, Alexandra glided into the church on the arm of her proud father. The Princess completed her elegant ensemble with “something borrowed” – diamond and pearl drop earrings and a classic two-row pearl bracelet from the family’s royal jewellery collection.

Her crowning glory was the Luxembourg Chaumet Choker Tiara, which features a lattice design of dazzling diamonds. This regal diadem dates back to the reign of the Princess’s grandfather Grand Duke Jean, and can be worn as a necklace or headpiece, often topped with a band of pearls, although on this occasion, Alexandra opted for the simplicity of wearing it without.

A favourite of her mother Maria Teresa and grandmother Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte, the tiara has been worn on previous royal occasions by the 32-year-old bride, including New Year and National Day galas, and for a lavish banquet at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo during her family’s state visit in 2017.
