Another day, another study into the amazing world of gut health. A specific type of gut bacteria has been found to motivate mice to exercise, highlighting the significance of the gut-brain pathway.

While further research is needed to prove the bacteria has the same effect on humans, it’s exciting news for the future of fitness.

As who couldn’t use an extra boost of motivation on a dull, grey morning? Especially if it came via a simple supplement or dietary tweak. It’s hoped this research might also suggest ways for adjusting motivation and mood for those with addiction and depression.

Having a chat over the garden fence could bring unexpected health benefits, say scientists. Strong neighbourhood connections have been shown to reduce the negative impact of living alone, which can include a higher risk of depression, heart disease and dementia. The researchers found that those living alone and reporting low connection with neighbours had a 48 per cent increased risk
