bit of welcome good news on the ageing process – your stress levels dip as you get older, according to a Penn State University study. Data from about 40,000 days in the lives of more than 3,000 adults was analysed. Respondents were assessed for daily levels of stress, providing a longitudinal diary for 20 years. Researchers reported that the number of daily stressors decreased with age. For example, 25-year-olds reported stressors on nearly 50 per cent of days, while 70-year-olds reported stressors on only 30 per cent of days. Plus, participants were less emotionally reactive to daily stressors as they aged. Here’s to a serene future!

ANXIETY DECIPHERED

Researchers have developed a blood test for anxiety! The test examines biomarkers to help objectively determine your risk of feeling anxious, the severity of current anxiety and which treatments would likely work best. Participants were given a blood test every three-to-six months, and researchers from Indiana University School of Medicine could identify each patient’s state of anxiety and match them with medications and nutraceuticals based on their biology. The test can also evaluate your risk of developing higher levels of anxiety in future, as well as other factors that might impact your anxiety, such as hormonal changes.
