Food that’s streets ahead

A Scottish business has won the 2022 European Street Food Awards. After cook-offs in 16 countries, Junk, from Edinburgh, competed with the other national champions to wow the judges and the public in Munich last month.

Junk won for its globally inspired food with cheffy flair. It also won Best Snack for its Spanish Armada: crispy jersey royals, sobrasada, aioli, charred lemon, purée de patatas and black garlic. That’s after winning Best Main Dish in the UK awards for its beautiful soft shell crab (left). Junk will open a restaurant in Edinburgh this month. It sounds like food worth sitting down for...
